Heike Leiacker - Your contact person for probate research

Heike Leiacker - 29. January 2024 - General, Genealogy, Personalities

Our colleague Heike Leiacker is our specialist for probate research. But she also enjoys the exciting research she does for various private clients – and their delight at the information she finds!

She studied Applied Cultural Studies, an interdisciplinary program, with a focus on history and joined our team in November 2016. Since then, she has attended several genealogy trainings and conferences and has enjoyed working on countless cases. Previous stations in her career include working as a trainee at the Young Artists Festival Bayreuth and the Badisches Landesmuseum in Karlsruhe.

She particularly enjoys the opportunity to play detective and find even the most hidden information in both genealogy and probate research. The trickier the problem, the greater the sense of accomplishment. Of course, not every question can be answered, but Heike does her best to find all the heirs or provide our private clients with the answers they are looking for.

Above all, she loves being involved in and following the many different family stories. Many of them you could not have invented. Be it family migrations from France via Switzerland and Sweden to Hamburg (and finally overseas), families scattered by wars, or the discovery of previously unknown half-siblings! Heike has several favorite cases, and her greatest reward is the joy of her private clients when their genealogical heritage is revealed.

Although she has always been interested in history, she did not begin her own genealogical research until she joined us. A rather serendipitous discovery on Ancestry on one of her first days with us (the assignment was to familiarize herself with the online source) probably played some role: A lady with the same, rather rare, surname had died in her current place of residence (where no known family member had ever lived before her).  A very distant family connection seems likely, but has not yet been proven. In any case, her personal interest in genealogy was now definitely awakened! And in the meantime she can actually trace a large part of her ancestry back to the 18th century.

We are happy to have gained a new enthusiastic private member for the genealogy community and of course to have Heike's support on our team.
