A new German genealogy festival: The Genealogica 2021
From 12 to 19 February 2021, the virtual festival Genealogica will take place for the first time. It is organized by Anja Kirsten Klein and Barbara Schmidt. Supporting this event is an affair of the heart for Andrea Bentschneider, since it enables direct interaction on the greatest hobby and our profession - even in times of COVID-19. A fantastic initiative of the two organizers!
She will therefore not only be there as a participant, but also as a lecturer. Her topic will be “Ahnenforschung als Broterwerb: Vom Hobbyforscher zum Berufsgenealogen“ (“Genealogy as a living: From being a hobby researcher to becoming a professional genealogist“). Also, the Association of German-speaking Professional Genealogists of which Andrea Bentschneider is chairperson will also be at the festival with a virtual booth.
The Genealogica wants to provide a virtual platform for participation and interaction of hobby researchers, genealogical societies, public and private institutions as well as genealogical and historical (service) providers of all kinds. It is planned in the light of the restrictions due to COVID-19 that make it practically impossible to meet in person and interact face-to-face.
The virtual event area with virtual boots will be open the whole time. The provided information will vary from provider to provider. Live-Chats will be possible, too. Virtual meeting places for the interaction of genealogists among each other are another feature. Lectures are planned mainly for the weekend, 13 and 14 February.
If you are interested in the German festival and Andrea Bentschneider’s lecture (in German), but do not have a ticket yet, you can buy one here (advertising).
