A lot of work to do at the State Archive Hamburg

Current archive openings in Germany

You may already have learned that some archives in Germany have recently reopened. We were very pleased about this and have already arranged as many appointments as possible and in some cases also already visited the archives.

However, the situation varies greatly from archive to archive and it is currently also completely unclear how long the openings, if they have been made at all, will last. In any case, we will do everything to carry out your genealogical research as quickly and as best as possible. We are, however, dependent on getting appointments. In some cases, due to the closures, there is a lot of work to be done, so that one appointment is not always sufficient. In view of the increasing COVID-19 numbers in Germany, it is also possible that some archives will soon close again or have already closed.

We therefore continue to thank you for your patience and understanding. In the meantime, we wish you good health, happy Easter holidays and very much hope that archive visits will again be possible nationwide and long-term in the foreseeable future.
